After researching and purchasing a variety of different Amazon Ceiling Fans. I decided to write this review detailing the installation and quality of Amazon ceiling fans. It seems lately all I’ve done is install new ceiling fans.
My wife and I had installed new ceiling fans in our last house and have recently moved. So, what’s one of the first things we did in the new house? Yes, installed new ceiling fans.
Ironically enough, our son wanted ceiling fans for Christmas this year so after opening presents guess what I was busy doing?
Right again! I installed the new ceiling fans.

My Personal Experience
As with anything else, the more you do something the better you get at it. I’ve now installed seven Amazon Ceiling Fans in less than a three-year period. This by no means makes me a professional ceiling fan installer but I have to say, I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
I’ve learned the differences between 42″ and 52″ fans. The differences between the ceiling mount and rod mount. And the pros and cons of remote-controlled ceiling fans.
I’ve also started paying attention to the bulbs required for each different ceiling fan.
After a considerable amount of research and having purchased several different styles of Amazon Ceiling Fans, I have narrowed it down to the two below as my favorite picks.

The Dannilong Farmhouse Ceiling Fan with Light and Remote 42″ was overall an easy installation however the included instructions were short and not very detailed. I had to read them over a few times to make sense of what they were instructing me to do.
Someone mechanically inclined should have no trouble with the assembly and installation.
Be prepared though, they don’t give you an overabundance of wire length in the light housing. The connection wiring is only 2″ long and resides deep in the housing which limits the amount of space you have for the connectors.
Fortunately, the length of the wires that you connect to them was sufficient. Just know you’ll have a tight spot to connects both wires. Make sure you get it right the first time because once you attach the protective cover you will have to remove everything to resplice the connecting wires.
Another consideration was to use the short drop tube or the long drop tube. The angle of your ceiling might require you to use the longer drop tube which makes the installation considerably easier because it gives you much more room to connect the wires and attach the housing.
I installed one with the longer drop tube and one with the shorter drop tube. The longer was simple. The shorter was frustrating.
You also have to pay attention to the housing cover at the very top. Make sure you use the black screws and not the silver screws to attach it. The silver screws are way too short, especially if you use the short drop tube.
Once installed, the functionality was great. The included lights lit the room very well and I love that the fan has six different speed settings. The remote allows you to control the speed and direction of the fan but also has a separate control for the light.
It also has a button to turn “All Off”. This was a nice feature. One button and everything turns off.
One flaw that I do see is there are no pull chains, so you are forced to rely on the remote. If the remote should malfunction (which inevitably at some time it will) you will have to replace the remote and receiver.
All is not lost though; it does default to the light switch for the light. In other words, when you turn the switch off everything shuts down. When you turn the switch back on, the light will come on.
NOTE: The receiver comes with a prefabricated snap-in wiring harness that makes this part of the installation very simple.
Installation time: 2 Hours.

Drawbacks of the Dannilong Farmhouse Ceiling Fan with Light and Remote 42″
- Instructions could be better detailed.
- Doesn’t push as much wind as the 52″ models.
- Wire ends inside casing are too short.
- No pull chains.
- Some screws are too short. Some frustrations could be reduced with longer screws.
Overall, I found the Dannilong Farmhouse Ceiling Fan with Light and Remote 42″ a great option for rooms under 200 square feet. Anything bigger I would definitely shop for a 52″ option.
The drawbacks I’ve listed above are temporary frustrations compared to the quality of the product once it’s installed.
It looks great and works flawlessly. I’m curious to see how long the remote will last.

The Prominence Home Sivan, 52 Inch Farmhouse LED Ceiling Fan with Light comes with much more detailed instructions. There were a few things I had to figure out for myself but overall, it went really smoothly.
This ceiling fan gave me plenty of room to attach the wiring and the screws were long enough to attach both housings with ease.
Installation time: 2 Hours.

- Slightly more expensive than a 42″. (The price when I purchased it was $149.99).
- There are parts that need removed that the instruction manual doesn’t mention.
- You have to remove 4 screws and the light cage to replace the bulbs.
Dannilong 42″ VS. Prominence 52″
Functionality-
Overall, the functionality of both Amazon Ceiling Fans is fairly equal.
The 42″ by size alone wouldn’t generate the same amount of airflow but makes up for it by having six speed settings. When I slept in the room with the 42″ fan it generated plenty of airflow and has a very nice sound to it. It wasn’t noisy and annoying.
The 52″ was pretty much the same. Plenty of airflow and a pleasing sound to sleep to.
The biggest difference between the two Amazon Ceiling Fans was the 42″ ceiling fan had a tendency to rock back and forth when I used it on the faster speeds, so I had to install the balance weight. This wasn’t difficult and solved the problem. The balance weight is included with the fan.
Quality-
The quality of both Amazon Ceiling Fans is outstanding. They are both very sturdy and the parts all fit together well. Nothing felt loose or cheap.
They both arrived in one box that was very well packed. None of the fans arrived damaged.
Ease of Installation-
As mentioned above, both Amazon Ceiling Fans were fairly easy to install but with some differences. The 42″ could have a much better installation manual, a longer wiring harness, and longer screws for the tight spots.
Appearance-
In my opinion, both Amazon Ceiling Fans have an awesome appearance. That was one of the reasons I chose them in the first place. After checking the online reviews, I decided to give them a go. I’m happy to say, both Amazon Ceiling Fans look great installed.
My biggest recommendation on the appearance is simple. Go with the one you like best, they both look great.
The 42″ has a nice open bottom design, and the 52″ has a closed in more caged appearance. I love the appearance of both Amazon Ceiling Fans.
Amazon Ceiling Fans: In Conclusion
The bottom line on both of these Amazon Ceiling Fans will be personal preference. Both Amazon Ceiling Fans have high functionality and are high quality. It all comes down to which one you prefer. The 52″ is about $40 more than the 42″ but would be worth the extra money if it’s being installed in a larger room.
Either one you choose; I believe you’ll be very happy with your decision.
