You all know the old saying, “It takes money to make money.” I’m going to show you some Tips for Saving Money Everyday!

Tips for Saving Money Everyday: Introduction
I’ve always said that “Saving Money is Making Money”, and I believe that no matter how much money you make, if you spend it all you’re sacrificing your financial future. How many people have won the lottery and within a year are broke?
I’m not talking about putting money in your savings account. I’m talking about spending less money on the things you do buy.
So, I decided to run a researcher’s experiment. I was going to go out into the world and see how much extra effort it would take to save money on the things I bought. Would it be a big enough savings to make it worth my time? I was going to find that answer.
Tips for Saving Money Everyday: Round One- Asking
My first idea was to test the theory of simply asking for a discount. Sounds easy, right? Actually, it is easy. I started asking for a discount everywhere I went just to see what would happen. One simple question sure didn’t cost me anything. It did save me some money though surprisingly enough.
Keep in mind, most of the time you’re going to be told “NO”. No big shocker there! If you believe that human nature is mostly good, you’ll find that most people actually want to help but simply don’t have the authority to make that decision. I heard “I wish I could help, but NO” quite frequently. I didn’t mind so I would just smile and say, “I understand, thanks anyway”.
My theory was tested again at Home Depot and was quite productive. I visited them 5 times over the course of a few weeks and every time I checked out, I would ask for the Contractors Discount. (I’m not a dishonest person, so if they had asked if I was a contractor, I would have told the truth and sacrificed the discount). They never asked that question and 3 out of 5 times they gave me a 10% discount.
When I tried this at restaurants, it never worked. I was not able to get a discount.
The only thing I accomplished was making them feel like their food or service was unsatisfactory. That was never my intention, but I guess it makes sense in the food industry. I won’t do that again. Especially since I frequent the same restaurants.
I did have success with gas stations, convenience stores, and small shops. If you are friendly and smile, people love to help. Please don’t come across as pushy though. Nobody likes that and if you’re going to save a buck or two, the least you can do is let them feel good about themselves. Win! Win!
The overall point is it never hurts to ask. Sometimes it’s a yes and sometimes it’s a no, but every bit is money that stays in your pocket.
Tips for Saving Money Everyday: Round Two- COUPONS
You don’t really hear much about coupons these days. You do hear about “Deals” and “Specials”, but not really about coupons. It’s not that they aren’t still out there because they are.
Did you know that Amazon.com has coupons? I didn’t either. They actually have a whole category dedicated to coupons. You can visit their website or simply click the link below to discover tons and tons of savings. Coupons can save you a lot of money with very little effort.

Take the time to find the big savings that coupons can offer. Even in this world of Online Shopping and Self-checkout we can still win the Spending Money Game!
Tips for Saving Money Everyday: Round 3- Sales
With our little friend called The Internet, we have the luxury of not having to leave the house. It’s like having the entire world at your disposal without having to leave the couch. Why wouldn’t we spend some of that time finding Items on Sale?
Just about anything you could ever want will eventually be on sale. A lot of times they already are, and all you have to do is search. And even if they’re not on sale at the time, it probably won’t be long if you can afford to wait. Want a new truck? Wait until Chevy has their year-end Silverado specials. Want a new TV? Wait until Black Friday. You get the point!
I was in the market for a new scale. I wanted a scale that measured everything. Body weight, body fat, water, etc. The whole shebang. I did my research and found two that fit my needs. The Garmin smart scale and the Oxiline smart scale. I decided on the Oxiline smart scale because I FOUND IT ON SALE!
Tips for Saving Money Everyday: Round 4- The Knockout Punch
I’ve shared with you several ways that you can keep money in your pocket with little effort and most of the time not even leave your house. We spend so much time working on making money that we sometimes overlook saving money. It can add up over the course of a few weeks. Imagine how much those savings could add up in a year. I can almost guarantee you’d have at least enough for a tank of gas or go out to dinner. Maybe even more!
